En Fuego
Y’all, it’s not easy to capture the flaming citrus. It’s one of those shots that I want to keep working on because 1) Fire looks cool, 2) I think flaming oils really add a nice seasoning to the drink. I still have some work to do but it’s still a lot of fun to try challenging shots (ripple shot, here I come!).
I’m a huge fan of stirred tequila drinks, especially as an after-dinner sipper. It’s been awhile since I’ve shared one so here we are! This one brings in a bit of spice from the Ancho Reyes, which pairs beautifully with coffee (here, in the form of an over-infused rye whiskey) and cinnamon. A bit of bittersweet citrus notes comes from the Monte (and is highlighted by the flamed oils) and the mole bitters highlight all the right nbring it home. I recommend a vanilla-forward reposado like @casamigos.
Recipe
1.25oz Reposado tequila
0.5oz Ancho reyes (@anchoreyes)
0.25oz Amaro Montenegro (@amaromontenegro_us)
0.75oz Coffee rye whiskey*
0.25oz Cinnamon syrup
1 dash mole bitters (@dashfirebitters)
Stir all ingredients with ice until chilled, strain into chilled coupe. Flame orange oils and include in drink. Cheers!!
