Lucky Lime’rick
“There once was a drink full of booze
Containing such lovely green hues
It’s simply sublime:
Mint, chocolate, and lime--
I, for one, can't refuse”
I'm still way too proud of this rhyme even a year later after the original post on Instagram (3/17/21). I have a brand new green drink coming your way tomorrow so I wanted to share this oldie-but-goodie today.
This drink brings lime, mint, and chocolate together in a boozy green sipper. The lime peel rhum infusion provides a surprisingly strong limey presence thanks to the prolonged infusion (2-3 days), which gives a touch of bitter that plays perfectly with the grassy notes of the rhum. The homemade cordial gives an enormous depth of real mint and chocolate flavor that is complemented nicely by the remaining ingredients. The drink finishes with a welcome minty note that grows slightly as the ice melts. It’s an amazing flavor combo and well worth the effort!
Recipe
1.25oz lime-peel infused rhum agricole (@rhumclementusa)
0.75oz rum (@plantation.rum 3 Star)
0.75oz mint/cocoa nib cordial
0.33oz white creme de cacao
Barspoon Fernet Branca
~1/2tsp blue curaçao (for color)
Combine all ingredients and stir with ice until chilled. Pour into rocks glass and add one large lucky ice cube (1/2tsp @feebrothersbitters mint bitters + 3oz water). Garnish with shamrock lime peel. Cheers!!
